do you take your dogs to the fireworks?

Last year I wanted to bring the dogs to the fireworks display, but I was worried they would be too scared or bark the whole time and drive everyone else nuts. I missed them, though, when everyone else had their dogs with them! I also felt bad leaving them alone because whenever they hear fireworks they bark at them. I wanted to be home to tell them it's okay, but I can't be in two places at once!

Neither one is scared of thunder or anything like that, although it does make Bonnie nervous sometimes if it's really loud.

What do you think? Have you ever taken your dog to a fireworks show?

I don't take my dogs. I worry about them becoming too neutoric and none of us could enjoy the fireworks.

I always leave them in the house with the TV on loud and the air conditioning on so it drowns out the noise somewhat.

Here is a great link for fireworks and dogs.

I like this post. It will be interesting to see what others do.
I guess it would be a good idea to desensitizine dogs to this seeing as it is done just about every holiday lately. I know labor day is big for my area.

I have taken Natalie to one once and she was great. I sat in a folding chair and placed a doggie bed for her next to me which she layed quietly on the entire time. She did'nt seem to be nervous at all by the fireworks.

I'm glad I didn't even try. Duke and Freckles both started barking in the house last evening just from the distant boom of the firteworks downtown. They didn't mind the TV version but were really on alert then entire time the booms kept coming.
I am sure Freckles, in particular, would have freaked if he actually saw the explosions.

nope...Sadie freaks out at t-storms and firecrackers.
I like to enjoy stuff like that w/out having to worry about a dog's reaction. I feel, mine at least, can miss out on fireworks. I'm pretty sure she hasn't a clue as to what all the noise is about anyway.
