This is my grandmother's cat, Spunky. He's been on a diet for a while now and is successfully losing weight but he weighed 31 lbs. at one point. He is now down to 26 lbs.

He is such a doll....just thought I'd share.

I had a cat named Blackie that was 35 pounds.
Please watch your cat carefully. My cat was so huge his belly dragged when he walked and one day he jumped off the kitchen counter and his spine cracked in half b/c it couldn't take the pressure. We had to put him down b/c there was nothing the vet could do so please be careful in honor of Blackie

He might be a little, err, puggey. but nothing that a few weeks outdoors can't cure.

I'm sorry to hear that Bellack...how sad. :(
As long as he continues to slowly loose the weight I think he will be fine. He is'nt allowed on the tables, ect. so hopefully nothing like that will ever happen.

Hmmm....somehow I doubt that. Believe it or not, some outdoor kitties are overweight too. Spunky is allowed outside. He likes to lay in the garden but thats about all he does out there.

My mouth dropped open when I saw Spunky's pics. I've never seen such a big cat . So glad he's losing weight.

Hi Nern. He's very cute. That's great that he has lost five pounds! Does anyone know what the documented world record is for the heaviest cat? I thought it was in the 30 something pound range.

I think it is in the 35 pound range. And it must have only worked for my cat. He weighed 22 pounds and lost control of his bladder. We put him outside and he lost 12 pounds in about 2 weeks from mousing and such other activities. :D

that at is to cute.... i like the spots... looks lik a big ball of fur with ears and a tail...shes sitting there with a look on her face like "what r u looking at" lol... ive seen cats that size that docs have said have been pretty healthy... but a lil excersize wouldnt hurt they always say.... my cat chyanne got up tp 25lbs one time and i used the laser pointer on her fat lil but and got her motivated and iver head pretty good stuff about that purina indoor formula 4 cats i give chyanne that and she loves it and soo far hasnt gotten on the hefty side again yet....

I actually bought a lazor pointer for her thinking it would get Spunky moving around a bit and I never gave it to her #-o . I should get her another one. My cats love it so I figured he might like it too.

That's a good idea, Nern. Does he have one of those cat trees? Anything to get that big boy moving would help. It's wonderful that he has managed to lose weight, but a little exercise will help out a lot too. :D

I'm not sure if he has a cat tree.....I don't think he does. I'll have to ask her.

Wow, another really big kitty.

I have'nt talked to my grandmother recently but I will ask her next time I talk to her. I'm anxious to find out if he's lost anymore weight. Maybe I'll give her a call.
