ok i just got back from the vet because codies boob was really hot and getting hard....he said it could be the first of mastitis...well i asked him if it could hurt the pups he said it could kill them if it was so i asked him if i should take them off of her he said no because it was just the biginning and he gave me a antibiodic for her said the pups should be fine....i am still a little concerned....about them nursing......tell me what you all think....would be best....i am inbetween... maybe the anibotic would help the pups because they drank already or is he setting me up to have dead pups....i am scared i don't want to lose my baby's babies...she is so happy and is such a good mamma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about mastitis, but here is something I found online on the subject:

Hope it helps. I've heard that taking a warm, moist compress and holding it on the affected breast may help her some. I've also heard that using castor oil on the breast will clear up an infection within a day or two. Basically, take the pups away from her for a few hours, rub castor oil on, wash off after 2-3 hours and let the pups nurse. There shouldn't be any danger to the pups from the mastitis.
