Does anyone have a red ball thet makes sounds?

Yesterday at the dog park Freckles found a solid red rubber ball a bit smaller than a tennis ball that was fairly dense to the feel. He kept that ball for our entire visit occasionally dropping it for me to throw. Time to leave and he was not about to give up that prize so I allowed him to keep it.
Later that afternoon I noticed that the ball was no where in sight. Freckles and Duke both "helped" me search by looking under the sofa, no ball. While down on his level I noticed that Freckles had something in his mouth but not the red ball. When I lifted his lip I saw he had some kind of transparent plastic ball that had some electronics inside. It was round and about the size of a ping pong ball. I finally managed to get it out of his mouth and it looked to me like some sort of transmitting device. I looked again for the ball and found just a few small specks of red soft rubber. Putting two and two together I realized that Freckled must have eaten the entire ball and this object was at it's core. I banged it thinking it might be one of those blinking lights but nothing happened so I put it in a basket on the kitchen counter.
Later that evening Dukesmom was sitting at the counter when that ball started making various sounds. I have no idea what set it off. Before retiring I buried the ball under some pillows in a far back guest room so if it went off in the night the boys wouldn't go berserk.
I have it at work today but so far no sounds.
Two questions here. Does anyone here have a red ball that does make sounds? If so then my guess was correct about where it came from.
Second, How long does it take undigestible items to move through a dog. Freckles has shown no adverse symptoms but I check his morning poop and nothing there. He ate his supper last night and breakfast this morning as usual.
Hopefully, being fairly soft rubber, all will pass in time but I will keep a close eye on him until it does.

I would say it should work its way through sometime today. As for the ball, my guess was a blinky light ball, but you already ruled that one out. How odd!!

How wierd....at first I wondered if Freckles maybe mistook it for one of your tomatoes

I havent seen anything that sounds like what you describe.....and Ive seen a lot of dog toys.

As for how long it will take to pass through, sounds like he/they did a pretty good job of tearing it to small pieces, usually within 'about' 48 hours you should see some signs or either constipation/diarhea, loss of appetite, some vomiting, maybe 'apparant' increased drinking but it comes back up again pretty quick if theres a blockage. It usually doesnt take that long but it can take a little longer, (depends if its a full or partial blockage, a partial can gradually prevent other foods etc going through because it builds up) we usually tell people to keep a close eye on them for about the following 4 or 5 days just to be on the safe side. General rule, if you know theres a good chance theyve ingested something questionable, first sign of any problems its best to have them checked out by a vet, Ive seen quite a few pets were the owners have said theyve had no appetite, been vomiting etc for 5 days or more, in some cases by the time we get them into surgery to remove a blockage theres a lot of damage already done to either the stomach or intestines, sometimes the damage is irreparable. Im not trying to make you panic but its better to be aware. Of all the dogs Ive had over the years and all teh things theyve eaten....couch material, foam, socks, bones, toys, mice, birds, sticks etc none of them have ever had a blockage.

Also, do you think there may have been any metalic parts ingested? Just curious with not knowing what it is. If so then I would watch for any other unusal behaviours.

LOL. You'd think dogs are really goats in disguise...

That is so weird and funny! I'm picturing them "helping" you look for the ball!

Wasn't there a sci-fi movie about an orb that made people sick...I'll have to think some more about that one. But be careful! LOL!

    Jamiya,
What a neat ball caddy but I would say that if I put one on either dog the ball would be "retreived" by the other in a matter of seconds. :D
Good news is that Freckles did poop yesterday afternoon so things are moving. Bad news is that probably 80% of that ball is still in him. Hopefully it will continue to move on through.
Just read the post about Cairo having a blockage so I will watch Freckles carefully. Of course a chewed up in small pieces ball is nothing compared to Cairo's solid 6" ball loged in his intestine.

    Update,
All day yesterday that electronic filled small plastic ball sat on my desk without a peep. Now, just minutes ago, it made a siren sound for a few seconds then silence. About three minutes later another sound. This happend about five times with a minute or two between sounds. Now nothing for the last ten minutes. I have no idea what set it off. Weird. Twilight Zone here.

does it go off at the same time every day? or totally random? we've gotta figure this out!!

    lil96,
It appears to be totally random. I now believe its battery is fading and thats why it goes off everynow and then on its own. I plan to carefully crack it open and see if I can replace the battery just for the fun of it. I am also convinced that when new it was activated by pushing a toothpick into the hole. I see no other reason for that hole.
Update on Freckles. He pooped normally again yesterday afternoon and I estimate he has now passed about 85% of the ball fragments. Hopefully today everything else will pass.

I personally think that it's some alien form. You should be very careful and possibly contact homeland security.

    Jamiya,
That is not the one. I have one of those flashing light balls. It has a hard plastic shell and is not solid. The boys love to play with it at night and it's really weird to watch them carrying it around in their mouths when it is flashing red. Especially Freckles who's eyes reflect red when he looks back into the light. Spooky.
I plan to go by Pets Mart this weeken and will look over their entire ball collection.
