:lol: Yeah Ive seen that one, theres another one similar with a Rottie pup doing the same thing. Cant recall any of mine being that bad....thats not to say theyve never done anything nuts though.

I think that dog might be crazy, seriously. Poor dog. I'm happy to report that neither of my dogs do that.

Just my opinion....I dont think its crazy (medically crazy), I think when they do things like this theyre already 'bone/food aggressive' and theyre so focused on the bone that they just see something kind of 'wavering' at the side of them. One of my cats would occasionally attack his tail....same type of thing, except with him it was usually if he was playing with the other cat, I think he just caught a glimpse of it and then went after it, soon as he caught it (which he usually didnt) he would let go.

I dont see the dog causing any damage to his foot, same as the Rott, theyre probably not biting down much, theres no yelping, bleeding etc and it probably looks worse than it actually is. If a dog is doing it a lot and you wanted to stop it you could probably use an e-collar for a while (Ive done that with obsessive tail chasers/biters....break them of the habit and they stop in some cases). There are some dogs that have a self mutilation 'seizure' problem where they really can do a number on themselves, they usually go the same body part over and over again, the worst one I saw was a dog that would literally attack his rear leg like he was in a dog fight....but it wasnt a bone or anythng that triggered it off, I mean it was a type of seizure that he had no control over, he would be laying there screaming while tearing into the leg.
