Dog faucet licker waterer things?

I don't know what they're called but they are those things like you find in hamster cages that you put on the faucet and the dog licks it to drink? They are specially made for dogs.

Will a normal dog actually use one of these things? Would they be sufficient for large dogs who drink a lot of water?

I'm trying to find a solution to my water bowl problem. Both my dogs seem to thoroughly enjoy knocking over their water bowls, playing with them, chewing on them, and the new thing is to take them out into the yard and bury them. Needless to say this is getting really annoying b/c it is hot here and they need water, but the bowls don't last 5 mins after I put them out there. And especially in the morning I do not enjoy walking all over the damn yard in my pjs with a flashlight trying to find where they buried the bowl.

 I'm sorry, that is just really funny!! I don't know anything about those things but I do know that both of my weenies quickly learned to drink out of one of those hamster bottles (but bigger) that came with their crate. I think even the cat took a lick lol.

I also heard that you could get a bundt pan and pound a pole or rod through the hole into the ground and that would keep the water bowl in place....don't know if it would be big enough for your dogs though.

i don't know about the faucet things, but both of my dogs used to do that to their bowls too (food bowls included) so we bought a metal food bowl they can't get a grip on and a relatively large sterilite container. the container holds enough water and is heavy enough and in a kind've odd shape so the dogs can't knock it over, and it holds plenty of water for both of them. they'd also have to dig a pretty big hole to bury it.

I have no advice about the water bottles, but when my grandmother had her doberman she used to like to tip over her water bowls. My grandmother used to use an old tire and she had a stainless steel bowl that would fit inside the centre of the tire. Sheba never managed to figure out how to get the bowl out of the tire so no more tipped over dishes. This is assuming the bowls are outside, unless you want a tire in your house.
