Hi I was asked to help crosspost this. This poor little guy needs some help getting around. If any of you know where to get this equipment please post any info available. I am posting pics WAY at the bottom. It is quite a sight so some of you may not want to look.

    Thanks!

    We need wheelchair info ASAP:

We have an urgent need for a six month old Pit Bull puppy that has lost his back two feet due to complications that are detailed below. He cannot live life without a wheelchair, as he cannot move: he has to wriggle around on his belly, and we all know this is no life for a baby. He has to be lifted and carried to potty, and can get no exercise, but it does not dampen his spirits. We need contact info for companies, or organizations, that have/make wheelchairs for needy babies, and would provide a decent discount for a rescue organization. We will most likely have to get more than one wheelchair (unless they can expand for a growing puppy), as he will grow significantly between now and adulthood. Roscoe's story is below, so you'll know why he lost his feet, and pictures [of Roscoe and his feet] are available.

PLEASE FWD and crosspost this message everywhere, to help provide us with wheelchair companies/organizations for this puppy. Please send info, ASAP, to: PitPrints@earthlink.net

Roscoe's Story: Roscoe arrived at a vet clinic on May 24th, semicomatose with a 104 degree temperature. His white cell count was low (1600) and he had elevated kidney values. The doctors suspicions were Lepotosporosis, Distemper, or Parvo. They did not run a parvo test because he had just be vaccinated 5 days earlier. His elevated kidney values pointed to lepto, and as such, he was treated. He was treated with IV fluids and antibiotics, but he was losing protein which in turn caused edema in his limbs. The vet attempted to combat this problem with plasma and hetastrach, but the edema progressed rapidly and caused poor circulation. His front legs responded well, but his rear legs were slow to respond: due to poor circulation from the edema the tissue around his feet started to necros and slough off. He can no longer walk, and has to drag himself around. We are in need of a wheelchair for this precious baby, and need information on where to get reasonably priced wheelchairs.

Here's another alternative to the wheel chair. This is a really neat website on prosthetics for animals. They also give a list of makers all over the country that make them. It has different links that show dogs and horses that have the back prosthtics.

Thanks so much guys!! I hope this boy gets the help he needs. There is just so much animal abuse out there that sometimes I honestly forget that sometimes there are real diseases that happen to these guys that need just as much attention.

He's so cute..... and I wonder if prosthetics might work better for him at some point than a chair, since it's not a case of paralisys(how do you spell this?), and his hips and back end work okay, just that he is missing his feet? I bet as young as he is, he could adapt well to artificial feet! I would like to be able to follow his story over time.

Hi Leo. That isn't my dog in the pic. It was crossposted from a different board. The dog in the picure is an APBT yes.

    I own an AmStaff.

Haven't seen you on the board before. Welcome!
