This will be interesting to follow. The story said workers at the facility placed the dog on the tread mill with a choke collar. Of course Cesar is responsible for the actions of his workers so even if he was unaware of this happening he would still be liable.
After watching many shows I do find it hard to believe he would do anything that could injure a dog so I'm not rushing to make any judgements until all of the facts are presented.

I agree. but what I dont understand is you are taking a dog to training for shyness, what the heck does being put on a treadmill have to do with his problem.

caesar's method of training is basically to exhaust the dog prior to workingg with them.
I understand we don't see a lot of what goes on when watching the show.
Watch him after they show him working with a red zone case - we see about 5 minutes of him working the dog - yet the dog is exhausted after. Panting heavily barely able to move due to exhaustion.
One show they had it was reported he "battled" the dog for 4 hours to get it to stop fighting him.
That's why he advocates 45 minute walks first as the dog is tired and more apt to focus

My guess is that the dog may have been full of nervour energy that exercise would calm him down. Many behavior problems are rooted in a lack of proper exercise though I think shyness may be rooted in a past bad experience or even genetics.

Another problem I see is that the dog must have been left unattended to suffer such terrible injuries. That in itself would be unexcusable.

I try not to rush to judgement whenever I see something like this in the press, but as they say, theres no smoke without fire and obviously something went wrong. He may not have been there but he is absolutely responsible for the people he hires and the methods used.

This is what I found really disturbing.....

Suarez says he took 5-year-old Gator to the Dog Psychology Center on February 27 to deal with fears of other dogs and strangers. Hours after dropping the dog off at the facility, Suarez claimed a worker called to inform him the animal had been rushed to a veterinarian..

It doesnt say if this was a 'drop off' daily or weekly programme or if it was a programme where the dog stays for about a month. Does anyone know? If its the latter why on earth would anyone be working the dog on the first day in. You just dont do that......

He later found the dog "bleeding from his mouth and nose, in an oxygen tent gasping for breath and with severe bruising to his back inner thighs,"

Unless the dog has a serious bleed problem (which could be a possibility) how in the h*ck did he sustain those type of injuries? (providing the report is accurate).

Will be watching this, Im hoping its just another 'invented lawsuit', I havent always agreed with Milans methods in working with every type of dog but I really had thought of him as one of the more respectable trainers in LA. I really am shocked. :(

ADDED: I did a search on it and found this which is 'reported' to be in the lawsuit.

One of Millan's trainers allegedly put a choke chain on Gator and he was placed on a treadmill -- for the first time in his life--, where he collapsed after being overworked, according to the lawsuit.

Trainers delayed taking the dog to a veterinarian, then finally took him to one without proper equipment to handle Gator's injuries, the lawsuit states.

Gator ultimately had to be taken by a pet ambulance to a capable facility, according to the lawsuit.

Suarez left several unanswered telephone at the Dog Psychology Center, and on the eighth day, Millan himself called, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit also states he was not told what happened to Gator until five hours after the injuries occurred.

Gator has had several surgeries, was fed with a tube for several weeks and may never be able to eat normally again, the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Among the allegations are negligence, fraud and deceit, and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Suarez is asking for unspecified general, special and punitive damages, as well as costs for veterinary expenses and for the reduced value of the dog, which serves as the logo for Suarez's company.

After reading all this and watching him "Train" (bah) that producer's dog I can say nothing nice. He is abusive and is on a power trip. The producer's dog was obviously exausted and afraid when he was walking with her but prior to that part you could see how energetic and relaxed the dog was.

I would rather have a dog that liked walking with me and liked being around me than one that was tired and afraid.

The man sueing for the injured dog could not be sueing for enough money in my opinion. If it was my dog that was treated that way the whisperer would pay in more ways than one.

ive always said ive been suspiscious of the dog whisperer. i too dont understand how exhausting a dog will help with shyness. shyness is not an exercise problem. what do you get when you exhaust a shy dog? a shy tired dog. whatever happened to positive reinforcement?

    i agree
