Yesterday I had a new garage door opener installed to replace one that broke. That evening I was heading out to pick up a pizza so I asked Duke if he wanted to ride. Redundant question. :D
We enter the garage through the utility room. Duke always runs in ahead of me into the dark garage knowing I will hit the door opener which turns on the light. As soon as I hit the switch Duke bolted pass me in sheer terror back into the house. He was affraid of the sound of the new motor.
I found him hiding behind Dukesmom who was wondering what scared him.
It took quite a bit of convincing to get him back into the garage and into the car. I suspect after another trip or two he will get use to the new sound.
OK. so Duke is not the bravest dog in the world but we love him just the same. :D

That's strange how dogs can be afraid of motor sounds

When I take Reese for a walk he freaks out when he hears weed eaters. He starts jumping and flopping around like he's having a seizure or something. He's such a wimp.

Our neighbors are having the steps up to their front door fixed, so they have a bunch of huge trucks in their driveway. Bonnie was afraid to walk near them, even though they were not on. I wasn't that surprised because Bonnie is afraid of a lot of things.

But then I took Nala for a walk and she wouldn't walk near them, either! Too big I guess.

Later Nala saw a couple of joggers who were standing with their hands on a big tree, stretching. Apparently she thought the humans and tree was one giant monster-thing because she wouldn't go anywhere near them as well!

Poor Duke. I have never really known my girls to be afraid of much until the other day. My husband got a new nail gun and so he decided to try it out by repairing the kids playhouse. Fancy, Punkin and Bluebelle were out in the yard playing and when my husbnad laid that first nail they all three took off running with their tails tucked between their legs. It was quite funny.
