Monday it was Duke and the intruding sock, Tuesday it was the great escape. Yesterday it was Freckles in my garden.
OK I probably have the MOST pitiful vegetable garden in the world but I try. The photo below shows this years effort. This area off the deck in the past had flowers but the boys destroyed that garden. This year I planted four tomotoes, two Bell Pepper, two Basils and some border flowers. To protect it from the boys I placed a wire fence around the perimeter but as you can see it is open under the built in deck bench.

Yesterday afternoon before our jog I was sitting out on the deck with the boys when Freckles dropped his tennis ball and it rolled under the bench and into the garden. When I looked over my shoulder he was standing in the garden. I yelled at him to get out, no response. I was affraid to approach him directly as I'm sure he would bolt around destroying everything so I tried to carefully step over the fence hoping he would retreat back under the bench.

Instead my toe caught on the top loop of the fence sending me crashing forward bending the fence down and crunching my right knee on the steel edging.

Freckles watched this with great interest but did not move. I was rolling around in temporary agony, cussing like a sailor, and later hoping none of my neighbors were out in their yards to hear me.

Duke came over to console me and as I gathered myself up, Freckles sensing he MIGHT have done something wrong, proceeded to sit down on top of one of the two Basil plants.

When I finally plopped back down in a chair Duke's attention to me drew Freckles out. Freckles then came over and quietly sat in front of me and placed his paw up on my hurt knee.

It is impossible to stay mad at either of them for long when they lay those sad eyes on you so all was forgiven even though I am now down to one Basil and three tomatoes.

This afternoon I plan to staple some wire under the bench to keep tennis balls, and hopefully Freckles, out of the garden in the future. Three days, three "events". I'm almost scared to go home today wondering what will happen next.

    :D :D :D :D

I hope you aren't hurting. But it is hard to stay angry.

Glad your not badly injured. I think you should be safe for a while though, you know that old saying "it comes in 3's", time for a bit of stressless relaxation I think.
