Ever see a fishing Lab?

Yesterday at the dog park I saw a Yellow female Lab actually stalking the small fish in the swimming ponds. She would walk slowly around the perimeter staring intently at the water. Occasionally she would wade in slowly then thrust her head under trying to grab a minnow.
I saw her run up to a man sitting under the shade pavilion so I made my way over and asked him if she was actually fishing. He laughed and said absoutely. He said they had taken a camping trip to Colorado and the dog had tought herself to catch trout in the stream and became a real good fisherdog. He said she looked like one of those bears catching salmon in an Alaskan river.

I have a fishing Catahoula...we have to hold him when we cast or reel a fish in because he has and will go after the lure or bait. He grabbed a fish I reeled in one time and took off with it. He has grabbed my hook once too. He also paces along the shore and looks for fish, but he hasn't caught any on his own....he just steals what we have already caught.

Not too long ago, Shawn brought home a 5 gallon bucket with bass that he had caught in it. He set it on the floor while he got things ready to clean them. Annie was watching them in the bucket and all of the sudden dunked her whole head in the bucket and grabbed one. She ran with it. It barbed her and she let go yelping. Now she growls at them when he brings them home.

    Oh how funny!!!

We haven't taken the girls out "fishing" yet, but we have taken them on the boat. Buki thinks its horrible. She cowers on the floor next to my feet or trys to get in my lap. Precious jsut sits on the front of the boat like "Oh yeah, this is the life!" letting her tongue flap in the wind and the drool to stream back on our faces!!!

Smokey used to submurge his WHOLE head and neck in buckets of water and dig at the bottom of them... I think he was fishing for imaginary fish.
