Hey everyone.. as you know I just got a new bird which I belive is male for my other bird who I thought was a female.. well since bringin the new one home Marley keeps humping all of her toys for long periods of time LOL is this the presence of the new bird that is gettin he all riled up?

Hi mating with toys is usually a male bird thing but it has been known for females to do it i do not think its because of the new bird as all birds go through things like this as they sexually mature.

It maybe that its because of the new bird but its unlikely i would remove the toys as this can cause sexual frustration which can make birds ill..

Did you say that I SHOULD remove the toys? Would she get more frustrated if the toy she "loved" left? hehe.. its very funny though..t he new bird is teaching marley new tricks because she never used to go to the bottom of the cage.. then she saw the new bird "sprite" go down there and shes is always there.. and marley showed her where the food dish is I think.. very interesting and cool to watch! But she seems to be humping all of the toys so I dont think I should remove all of them should I?? Its not like she never stops just occasionally now/..

Its always best to remove the toys they think is a mate as this can cause problems when placing a new bird in there cage and the bird can become very aggressive.

It is funny one of my cockatiels used to do it with his mirror which was funny so i removed it got him a mate and he was fine.
