I am foster caring a GSD. I was told she had a litter not to long ago. Her belly is hanging down and it look ugly. How long does it take for her to go back to normal. Is there anything I should do to help her get in shape again. She is underweight also. I have no experience with dogs, so please help. not really sure what I need to do. My husband is not happy with the way she looks and want me to give her back. I told him to give me some time to get her in shape. Please help. She is really good so far and I don't want to give her back.

    HI.
It can take a month or two for a female to get her "shape" back. THey can loose alot of weight if not fed properly while nursing a litter.
GOod diet, and exersize is the best way.

    Seriously???
First off, good for you for taking in a foster dog. But to me, it sounds like the dog would be better off in a home where a hanging belly isn't a concern. So your husband doesn't like the belly now, what will be next? He doesn't like the way she eats? Or walks? Come on, I know I sound rude but a hanging belly isn't a reason to give up a dog. You aquire a dog because you like the whole dog. Find her a home where she is appreciated for being her.
