Final update on my little dog with COPD

Hello to all,

I promised you an update on Patches (15 yr. old shih-poo) with COPD.

Good news all around!!

First, I got rid of Robitussim DM that caused her intestinal problems.

Vet said try any children's cough syrup. I found Elixsure for children.
I got it in a grape flavor. This syrup comes out in a gel form before turning to liquid. And guess what!! I first put a little on a spoon--no good--she rejected it. Then I put it on my finger and she licked it off, looking for more! I am now able to give her 2 finger licks with no problems!

Also, Monsterbailey sent me the article on "Pugs with COPD." I tried a
technique of gently rubbing her throat and gently blowing on her nose
and this also helped her to stop the attack. So, she has just once again returned from Bob Evans, had her piece of well-done bacon, came home, had a bath, and is now in her little "nuzzle nest" sleeping it all off.

She is about 10 1/2-11 lbs. and is doing well. For a 15 year old dog she is in good condition. This COPD can be controlled and is not a big problem at this time.

Once again, thanks to all who replied to me. I'm so glad God gave us these wonderful little animals-they enrich our lives!

Um.. as a little side note, I could drink the grape flavor Elixir by the bottle! It's so yummy! LOL! :lol:

OMG , Patches, that is sooooooooo great!! I'm so glad that you were able to find a syrup that she liked. Bless her little heart, what an angel! O
