Well, my first baby budgie hatched last night, and the second should hatch tomorrow I'm guessing. But when should I take out the other 2 eggs that are NOT fertile? Thanks in advance

Give it about 5days after the second egg hatches that way it will not upset the parents. You can also leave them in if you prefer as they retain heat and keep the chicks warm while the parents are out the nest and also reduces the risk of the being crushed when parents jump back in the nest.

Congratulations and i hope all goes well..

    Second baby budgie! YAY

    Thanks for the reply mike.
I've not been home yet today, but my husband called me at work and told me the second baby hatched today! So now both my fertile eggs have hatched, and mom and dad are doing good (at least the first baby always has a full crop! )
I can't wait until they start growing.
My zebra finch is now looking more like a bird! It's getting tons of pin feathers, the eyes are open (have been for a couple of days) and even has a *few* feathers. That one is 11 days old today!
    Bye for now

Thats great news glad everything is going well.

The baby finches will start to leave the nest around 21days and you may find that the parents sometimes actually push them out of the nest which i think is awful but suppose they need to be taught how to fly...

    Hope to see pictures soon..
