Picture this....You're having a nice steak dinner with salad and whatnot. You sit down on the couch to watch some TV...and suddenly...Theres a kitten in your food! And I don't mean sniffing at it. I mean, first chance she gets she takes a bite out of it! It's driving me and my hungry dinner guests mad! We've never actually handed them food and the only time they eat from a plate is when someone isn't paying attention and they go for it, or you leave it unattended. Does anyone know how to rid them of this problem? I locked them up in my room before, but they made an aweful yowling sound all through dinner.Also...Pictures!

This is as "fresh faced" and I'm going to get with Sierra.

Kahli is super interested in what goes on on the monitor.

This is their "normal" sleeping position. They've slept on eachother since the day we got them.

I don't really have much adivce other than try to avoid reinforcing them for this. Don't leave food unattended ever so they never get a chance to be reinforced accidently. When they come near the dinner while you are eating you can do something to startle them each time. I think they will eventually give up on trying. Whenever my cats bothered me while I was eating I would just shoo them away consistantly... they were pretty quick to give up on trying.
    Adorable pictures by the way!

Beautiful kittens. Our Pooky used to knock food from our plates as we were eating. We ended up putting him and Pumpkin in another room while we ate. Never mind leaving food out. Pooky devours anything on a plate.

When we first got Tennessee, I was sitting in my recliner eating dinner and the next thing I know, Tennessee pops up and grabs a mouthfull of mashed potatos. Now, I never let her near me when I'm eating so she's learning that I don't share so she doesn't bother. But mom & dad still give her scraps.

i have the same food problem with shadow. shes done it ever since i got her from the spca. when im eating she gets into my lap and if i turn my head... there goes my food. once she stole popcorn from my brothers hand, he wasn't looking so she went in for the kill and got her a piece. my other cat buster doesn't som much as look at people food we gave him a piece of popcorn once he sniffed it and went away (shadow got it when he left). the thing that works best for me is to make her sit down when she gets on my lap, that way its harder for her to get to the food.
