Freckles gets into trouble...again

For coffee I use the cold steep method to first make a concentrate by soaking a pound of coffee overnight in cold water in a special plastic container with a filter in the bottom. The next day I just strain the concentrate out into a carafe. Now I have a pound of used grounds that I use to throw them down the disposal. I heard they were great for gardens so yesterday morning I dumped the last batch in a back area of the yard where I am starting a compost heap.
A little while later I let the boys out and in a minute I look out to see Freckles nosing into the pile of grounds. I went out and called him over to find his nose covered with wet grounds. I do not know if he actually ate some or not but since I use decaf I was not too concerned. I kept a close eye on him the rest of the evening. He seems fine today. If he had eaten regular coffee grounds I guess it would have meant a trip to the emergency room.
I should have know that those two could not make it through a whole weekend without at least one of them getting into trouble.

I'm not sure either but I wouldn't think a lot of caffeine would be good. Freckles is hyper enough without a stimulant booster.

    Poor Freckles!!! Poor, poor Freckles!!!!

I had a compost pile once. I used to save all of my peels, veggies scraps, coffee grounds, any non-meat, non grease food scrap. Well, not only was this pile attractive to dogs but I also had problems with raccoons, opossum, and cats and mice. After a few weeks of adding grass clippings, I had enough of a pile to bury the kitchen scraps. Then the animals stayed away. After a few weeks the pile started to "cook"! It actually was getting hot from the decomposing process. It was great! The next spring, we had some awesome compost to put around the garden!! The composting novelty wore off after a few years and I got tired of saving all the scraps and turning and watering the pile every few days! Now, I just have a scrap heap in the back of the yard!
