I just got a meassage from my sister on my voicemail. My sister lives in New York, I live in California. Anyway she told me that her friend Katie just got a boxer/pit puppy. She is gonna be coming in town(California). I guess Katie and her boyfriend are going on a trip.A short trip. They are gonna leave this puppy with someone that they dont know so well, kind of makes me nervous. Anyways my sister asked that if this person who is suppose to dog sit seems freaky or just not right, if i could baby sit this puppy. I know my siters friend, my sister has known her for a very long time. I dont mind puppy sitting, i have a crate and everything. My only concern is my sister mentioned on her message that this puppy hasnt had any shots yet. My girls have all had their shots, would it be ok to bring this puppy over so i can dog sit even though it hasnt had it shots but my dogs have?

I'm concerned about the comment my sister made on her message about this person who is suppose to dog sit.

Would the puppy be better off with someone who they obviously dont know well, or possibly dont know at all, or would she be better of at my place with my 3 dogs even though she hasnt had any shots yet??

    Thanks!

there's a reason why kennels tell clients their dogs must be current on vaccines - I'd want the pup to have it's first shots before I'd risk my own dogs to something.
I foster cats and even the rescue group won't let cats into the program unless they are UTD on shots...I'd worry, and I probably wouldn't watch the pup unless they got it current on vaccines. And I'd also wonder why it wasn't.

I just got off the phone with my sister, she said the puppy HAS had her first and second series of shots....would it be safer now?

parvo, distemper those things would be the ones I'd worry about.
besides you'll probably want to keep the pup separated from your dogs for awhile anyway.
I'd also want to know if the pup was dewormed or cleared on that end too....that's once of my big things here - backend parasites that get shared

    let's not forget the other

shots such as kennel. Anytime you are introducing dogs from outside the house it is adviseable. Whether airborne virus or not, it is better to be safe as this is contagious.

Don't forget that a newly vaccinated dog can shed the virus for a few days after getting the shot. However, if your dogs are all vaccinated I would think they'd be fine.
