Yesterday while I was grooming my 1 year old Shih-poo, while I was brushing his teeth, I noticed a growth on the inside upper side of his gums.

It's a soft round fleshy growth about the size of a pea.

I'm calling the vet tomorrow morning but in the meantime I'm so concerned at what it might be.

I really hope it's nothing, I'm so worried.

My dog Pookey had the same thing on her lower jaw next to her canine. It turned out to be just an abcess and the vet lasered it off and cleaned her teeth while he was at it. Don't worry, I'm sure your baby will be fine.

The Vet said it was a WART!!!! He has a Canine Viral Papillomas. She just pulled it off with her fingers.

She said that is was transmitted by another infected dog, because he still has an immature immune system as he is only a year old. It can only be transmitted to younger dogs. As he gets older he will build an immunity to it.

I can't believe my little puppy has this. She said he probably contacted it at the doggy daycare. I'm very upset about this and will probably not be taking him to daycare anymore.
