Growth on Cat's Chest-Help!

    I noticed my cat has a growth coming out of her chest (between her front legs). It's almost an inch long. I clipped a bit of it off and it feels like soft/med nail tissue...oh the poor meows when I touch the base of it! It's not fatty & it's definatly not a wart. I felt around her ribs etc. with no meows so I don't think anything is broken. She only meows when I touch the very base of it. I will be bringing her to the vet next week, but anyone with a thought about what this could be?
