    Hi all:

    I had to share this!

It is a picture and small write up about me and the work that I do with pit bulls featured on The Humane Society of the United States Regional News letter!!! (Spring 2005 issue)

Yes, obviously I AM VERY PROUD!! You can also view the entire newsletter at:

    www.hsus.org/nero

Seeing something like this in print, Increases my drive to help rescue , rehab and obedience train dogs and also makes me realize that the work I do with the dogs is so rewarding and important!!!

Once I get finished paying off Cairo's bill (in the thousands and still rising) I will get the newsletter custome framed to be hung in my family room.

    :y_the_best: That's great!

BTW, how do you pronounce Cairo? Like the city in Egypt? I live close to a town with that name, and its "Kay-row".

    And how is Cairo doing?

Thank you for your kind words.

The gal pictured with me is my dog Annabelle:

She was actually pulled by a volunteer and given to me within one hour of her being euthanized. The vet had been called in and Annabelle was one of the dogs scheduled to be put down due to her being there the longest.
Look at her now. On the newsletter of The Humane Society Newsletter promoting good will!!!
    LOL.

is doing well! My husband is on his way to take him home as I type this (I am at work now) it is 5:50 pm on Wednesday 5/18/05.

Hopefully the horror is in the past now and he is on his way to a speedy recovery.
My husband is bringing him to my work in the parking lot for a quick visit on his way home. I am very excited.

If you go to his dogster link, I took pics today of the exact type of dental kong that caused the problem. We are also asking the vet for the piece that was taken out of his intestines. I just may write a letter to the company and tell them about this awful incident hopefully to stop other dogs from getting into danger.
    BAD KONG!!
His name is pronounced just like the city in Egypt. I found his name on http://www.bowwow.com.au/
(I love this link and pick quite a few names for shelter animals from this website)!!!

It was not a common name at the time and he looks like a Cairo. The shelter had named him Monte.

Well, I shall keep everyone informed.

Again, Many thanks to all for the concerns and the congratulations as well!

Very glad to hear that he is doing well! I love the pictures on his dogster page!

My friend that had the pit that had the kong surgically removed also kept his piece of kong. And what I thought was so strange...she is from the town of Cairo! (Not Egypt LOL)

ACK! I have that kind of Kong. I used to leave it in Nala's crate when we went out, but she always ignored it until we came home and let her out. It is sitting in our bedroom now and every time I see it I think I should put it in her toy box. Perhaps it will be only used with supervision now.

Coppersmom, why do I not have any trouble believing they would pronounce it Kay-row in Georgia? I can practically hear the drawl. Too funny.
