Hello, I have an emergency! My 3 year old budgie has fallen ill. It is New years eve, so all the veterinary offices in my area are closed, and will not be open until Monday. My budgie's symptoms are fluffed up feathers, partially closed eyes, cold feet, lack of energy, and had been sleeping all morning. I am so worried about him, please can someone tell me if they have ever experienced these symptoms with their budgies, and tell me how serious it is, and if he will be able to last until Monday, to get him in for an appointement! This is urgent Please HELP!! thank you for any sort of information.

Hi these are typical illness signs the best thing you can do until you can get him to a vet is keep him warm.

Place a hotwater bottle wrapped in a blanket or towel in a box and place him in the box and keep an eye on him make sure he is eating and drinking if not try and get hold of a syringe without the needle and warm some apple juice up and feed him this the apple juice helps put sugar into the birds system and gives them some energy and with it being warm will warm his body up to give him a chance.

Also because the apple juice has acids in it this helps combat some infections.

    Hope he is doing ok

Hi, I know that the vets in my area all have after hours phone numbers on their answering machines for emergencies, it might end up costing a bit extra but its worth it. Its worth a try anyway.

Thank you guys so much for your imediate aid. My budgie is surprisingly doing quite well, I got him to the vets last Tuesday, and received some medication. It appears that the medicin has helped, because many of his symtoms have subsided (not as puffed up, warmer feet, more energy etc.) Once again I thank you! I hope that your avian pets stay happy and healthy!
