For your avatar, click on the "Profile" link towards the top of the page. Scroll down to the very bottom and there will be a section for avatars. The pic you choose can't be any larger than 80x80 and it has to be hosted online somewhere. I can't think of any of the free hosting sites off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone will come buy and mention a couple.

If you want to post a picture in one of your messages, then it also has to be hosted online somewhere. Then you just copy the url (something like: http://hostname.com/picture.jpg). Click on the "IMG" button on the message composition screen and it will automatically put up the opening img tag. Paste the image url after that tag and click the "IMG" button again (at this point it sould be "IMG*") and it will automatically put up the closing img tag.

Or, you could just type the tags yourself. It should look something like this:

    Code:
    [img]http://hostname.com/picture.jpg[/img]

You don't need to use the URL tag for images. And your img has to end in something like ".jpg" or ".gif".

Try going to the image on your Photobucket account. Right click on the image and click "Properties" from the menu that appears. There should be something that says "Location", "URL", or something like that (I use Mozilla and it says location). Highlight the url and either right click again and choose "Copy" or while it's highlighted press "CTRL" + "Insert" on your keyboard. Then you just have to paste the url (Right click/"Paste" or "Shift" + "Insert) between the img tags.
