UGH! I don't know what to do anymore!!
My Lab/pointer Mix is about...9-10 months old.
She keeps peeing and pooping in my living room. Sometimes she will go outside and do it & we give her a treat as a positive thing. :) However, she never lets you know she has to go to the bathroom. :x She just goes.
I don't leave water out for her throughout the day so its not even like she drinks the water & has to pee it out!! My vet said she probably just isn't 100% trained yet....gave her meds for an infection just in case. But it still continues!!! :(
Any ideas on how to train her to go outside?? Any ideas-please please let me know!!!! Thanks!!!!!!! :y_the_best:

Why does she need to ask to go out? If you know she has to pee all the time, then take her out!!

The key is supervision. Watch her at all times when you are home. If she pees that often, then take her outside at least every hour and more if necessary. Go outside with her every time and reward her for going. Put a command to it - like "go potty" or "get busy" - and say it as she is going, then start saying it before she goes to remind her what she is supposed to be doing. Praise her while she is going and treat her as soon as she is done. Make it a big party! Reserve a special treat or toy or play a special game with her after she pees outside. And make sure she gets to stay out and play for at least a minute or so after she potties, so she doesn't associate it with having to go back inside. (Unless, of course, she WANTS to go back inside.)

If she goes potty inside, since you are watching her you can interrupt her by making a loud noise or something. Rush over to her and hustle her outside. If she finishes there, praise and treat. Clean up the mess inside with an enzymatic cleaner. And to avoid getting to this point, learn to recognize the signs - circling, sniffing, restlessness, etc.

Any change of activity - take her out! If she is lying down and stands up - take her out! If she drinks water or eats, wait 5-10 minutes and take her out! If she is playing and stops - take her out! If you take her out and tell her to go and she is just messing around, after a reasonable length of time, go back inside and then try again in 10 minutes or so.

It's a lot of work to housetrain dogs (some more than others) and since she is used to going inside it will be even harder for a while. Stick with it and she'll get it!
