Help with training

Could someone give me a suggestion or ideas for this problem?

I have three little dogs. A female miniature Schnauzer, a male American Eskimo (13 lbs.) and a 4 month old female beagle puppy.

The Schnauzer is trained to go on papers I leave down in the kitchen. Hardly EVER misses. The Eskie is probably 85-90 percent trained to go on the papers. And the little beagle will go on the papers as well.

But, the beagle is very inconsistent about it. The papers will be clean, she sometimes will walk right on them, and then pee in off the papers in front of the kitchen sink. Or wherever she happens to be. She will deficate under the kitchen table, or over in that area. Once in a while she will go on the papers, but rare.

I thought of putting papers down over by the table, but I don't want to encourage her to go in that area. Lucky for me, I have a vinyl floor and it cleans up easily, but it's the idea, I want to train her to go in a certain place and not just anywhere she wants.

I try putting them all outside for a while and then bringing them back in, hoping they go while out, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I tried feeding and watering her, then after about 15 minutes or so, take her out. She'll go, but that doesn't stop her from going in the house too.

Other than crate training, I am out of ideas. And I don't know about the crate training. I tried that when I first got her and all she did was bark all night long.

    What to do? :?:

I'm confused, do you want her to go on the papers or outside? Trying to teach her to do both is going to be too confusing for her and is probably why she thinks its okay to go inside. If you prefer not to use a crate you can try confining her to a small area using a baby gate...either way she will likely still bark and cry at first until she adjusts to being confined.

    Housetraining

Duh, I never thought of it that way, you are probably right. She is confused.

I would prefer for all of them to be trained to go outside. The Eskie, knows to tell me he has to go (poop) outside. But for some reason, doesn't know to tell me to urinate outside. He will go on the papers, most of the time. But I try to get him outside in the mornings and throughout the day off and on.

The schnauzer is set on going on the papers. I don't know how to break her of this. I try taking her out and she won't go. She might pee, but never the other. AND, it's like she holds it all day until after my husband and I go to bed, then the next morning, there will be poop on the paper. And I feed them early in the morning. This may sound weird, but I can tell hers from the other two.

She is an ex-puppymill breeder that we rescued. When we got her, she had 8 huge bladder stones and a horrible urinary infection. She had surgery to remove the stones and is doing 100 percent better. She has beefed up in her appearance and is like a different dog. We have to feed her Hill's Prescription Diet C/D. Specifically for urinary infections and bladder stones.

But anyway, how do I trane them to go outdoors? And as a guess, how long does it take?

do you give the mini a treat when she pees outside minis are very very smart try treating and praise. a mini schnauzer can learn three tricks in one day they say their the dog with the human brain.

You can try getting them to go outside by placing a newspaper outside for them to go on. Lots of praise when they go outside...gradually reduce the size of the paper until there is no more paper at all. If the schnauzer does'nt like to go in front of anyone it might be more difficult for you to get her to go outside where you can witness it and praise her for it.
The beagle is young yet so you can probably just completely stop using the papers for her and just train her to go directly outside. I would keep her confined without newspapers and take her outside frequently, praising her each time she "goes" outside. If you are consistant with her it should'nt take long for her to get the idea....maybe a few weeks.
You might be able to teach all of them to ding a bell (or "speak") when they need to be let outside too. You can do this by dinging the bell (or having them "speak") and eventually encouraging them to ding the bell prior to letting them out the door. Good luck.

I don't know the set up of your house, but if you get the puppy pads (maybe it can also be done with newspapers) and slowly move them across the room to the door then they will (probably) go outside. That really stinks to have to clean up after 3 dogs.
