High amounts of ammonia hurt live plants?

I have added a few live plants into my tank while it is cycling... will the 4ppm of ammonia which is present daily harm the plants?? I know the nitrates are good for them but how about the ammonia??
    Thanks

I've been told that the ammonia will not harm your plants
