Hello I am new to the boards. I really need help with my Himalayan cat. She is I year old and I got her from a breeder. She started losing her hair real bad. I have taken her to two different vets and so far they are not able to help her. I was told she had a real bad case of dried skin. Then I was told she had ring worm. I have tried medicated bath with special shampoo and differnent types of medication. Nothing seems to be working on my porr Zoey. Please help with out

do me a favor and next time don't buy from breeders. The animals usually have genetic probs from inbreeding and why pay for a cat when there are so many in shelters who need homes more.

As for your problem I'm sure you'll find an answer shortly because there are so many intelligent and experienced people here. Good luck and I hope your baby turns out okay.

Where is she losing hair? Is she licking the places where the hair is gone or is it just falling out? Some of the things I can think of is a food allergy, fleas, or anxiety(sp?)

Her hair is falling out. I have used flea medication as well. With no avail. Poor little baby...she is a small girl. Around 4 lbs.

What type of vet tests has she undergone and what type of food/s are you feeding her?

I know they can test for ring worm with a special light to make sure thats what it is. Was she treated for ringworm?? As others have mentioned, food allergies and fleas are a possible cause......but maybe even the flea treatment has irritated her skin?? Perhaps you could bath her in a mild moisturizing oatmeal shampoo, non-medicated and a mild conditioner? If her previous vet visits havent discovered the problem, and they haven't offered any treatment, i would go elsewhere for a second opinion.
