I have a male cat and hes still young about 5-6 months..i'm not sure whats wrong with him, i took him outside for a walk to cool off as it is very hot and humid in my apt. i was sure that i saw him spray on the corner of a building right after that i took him home and since then he's been panting heavily is it because hes too hot or is he in heat..? if you have any answers or suggestions please get back to me ASAP i'm worried about my kitty!!!!

Know when cat is in heat

Male kitties don't go in to heat, only females do. Most males that are not neutered will spray to mark their territory.

If kitty is not neutered, it would be best for him for you to do so. If there are females around that are not spayed, he'll be howling and wanting out, no to mention it would be healthier for him and the overpopulation of cats and kittens.

and once the testosterone hits his system spraying could be a problem with him....no excuse for putting off the neutering. He'll be happier and so will you
he's panting cause he's hot. Like dogs, when cats get overheated they will pant as they don't have sweat glands.
If you are getting the weather we are....keep him inside. Just too hot outside right now.
    Got any pictures of him/

    Definitely neuter.

Romeo was 1 year old and unneutered when I adopted him. He was aggressive towards teh other cats (all female) and smelled horrible. I never actually saw him spray anything, it was more like he emitted the odor.

Now that he's neutered, he's a much better kitty. The odor is completely gone and he's tons mellower (except Tennessee went into heat - at 4 1/2 months old  - and at times he still thinks he's still intact and tries to live up to his name  )
