How important is the light level?

Hello everyone... I live in a basement suite which is in my opinion on the dark side (esspecially since its winter in canada) I have a bunch of lamps trying to brighten up the area as much as possible and the days I work I leave when its dark and come home when its dark... Should I start thinking about buying like a flourescent "daylight" lamp to put over her?? I must imagine like all living things budgies must live on sunlight?
    Some ideas would be appriciated!!

Budgies do need light but they also need shade too. I wouldn't buy a light to put directly over her cage. You could always buy one and put it in the same room as her and put it on a timer so it turns on and off at the same time everyday so she gets atleast a bit of light.

Well once summer comes.. and I am going to be on night shift again... the sun rises in my main window it is huge like 10 feet long but I just cant leave it open when Im at work all day... so once summer comes it will be better but for now do you think its ok or is she gonna wither away... dont get me wrong i am living in this light level so it cant be too dim...

She'll probably still need natural sunlight every now and then for Vitamin D.

If birds dont get some natural light there molt goes wrong and you end up with a bird that starts to go completely bald.
Sunlight also gives them vitamin D dont ask how that works as i am not sure.

Since the winter is here and the days end sooner i have a light that comes on when its starts to come in dark this is full spectrum meaning it lights the whole room...
