I found a vet(recommended) that is mobile and does teeth cleaning without ansthesia. Love her but I had her do a blood/urine workup to get a baseline and make sure all is ok in there with our 4 year old baby boy Beau. Well she discovered he had UTI and crystal in urine and was dehydrated and had gingivitus. So he is on antibotics and tonight she comes back to do fluid IV to speed up healing. She also told me my cat was hyper vigilant and emeshed with me and need behavioral training(he does bit me sometimes and she feels that is unexceptable(I agree). Ok this elective physical has turned into a 750.00 ordeal and now 250.00 more for training to make him a happier cat that respects me. I am willing to do it all ...but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this behavior and what they did to correct it. Other than don't touch his face and be firm and say no bite, no scratch! He is a really adorable cat doesn't scratch up funiture..no peeing in the house... he is skidish which I hate and never understood since day one(3 months old) and he is biting me when he wants to play.
She told me toss out any toys that are played with that connect my arm to the toy..like the wand feather things. He will stop learning aggressive behavior that way to start. Also she said the best food is nutra maxi roasted chicken{a gift froom god" his INNOVA is not good. Anyways this is all so overwheming to learn I am doing it all wrong and he is contorling me instead of being a safe happy lazy cat. He also needs a sibling.
'Ok I'm rambling but if you've read all this and can offer any input on things I'd appreciate it.

sounds to me like you are getting one of those "beware of what you pay for" type things. An exam that is supposed to be cheap that ended up costing you nearly a grand? Buyer beware.
Do some online research before you subject your skittish cat to a behaviorist. Behaviorist are a good thing but ask yourself if you are content with your cat the way he is or are you trying to make the vet happy?
Tally's Basic Cat Care is a good site to start with (a good search will bring you there).
I'm on a lot of cat boards and I have YET to hear anyone say their vet said the cat needed a behaviorist or anyone who has ever taken their cat to one. I can't imagine a behaviorist even trying to change a cat's behavior.
If you educate yourself you can probably change some behaviors yourself just by being consistent. And I've always understood wand toys to be a good tool for cats who like to nip at their person - it's putting a toy between your hands and what the cat uses to play being their teeth and claws.
Do it yourself...and find another vet.

My cats have crystals and they are on prescription c/d food ONLY. I tried Natural Balance and they both flared back up. You may need to seek a second opinion about that food. Just because it's low in magnesium and ash it won't cure the crystals. I has to be acidified.
