I CAN'T BELIEVE AFTER MANY TRIES I FINALLY GOT GUPPY FRY!

Guess what guys I finally got feeder guppy fry, after my many tries and times I felt like giving up, I finally have guppy fry! Today when I went down to my basement to feed them (a couple minutes ago). I peeped into the tank, thinking that I would never have fry but, then I noticed two tiny, shiny tadpole things come up to the surface and that is when I noticed it was them! I can only see like 8 of them but I don't know if the mother is still giving birth or she ate most of them. How do I tell. I put more decorations and a plant in there to hide the babies so that I can save as many as I can. I wanted to move the mother but then I didn't know if she finished giving birth, because there are two females in the my 7 gallon breeding container thing and both were pregnant and I don't want any of them to die because one of them is the first female to give me fry without dying. So then I wanted to move the fry but, I don't have another tank or container with quality water in it, so would the fry die if I put them in a 5 gallon container with 100% aged water? OR should I get 25% of the water i the birth tank and 75% aged water? What should I do for the fry in terms of care? This is a great back-to-school surprise/gift. Yeah, I finally have feeder guppy fry! I hope I find many more!

Can you get a breeder box tomorrow? If you can, the fry should be okay in the 5 gallon (50/50 aged & tank water should be fine) until then. Then you could have the breeder box in the cycled tank and the fry would be safe and you won't have to worry as much about water quality.

Or you could use the 5 gallon and buy a small filter for it and put some established filter media in it. So the fry would have their own cycled tank.

Congrats!!! Try get a small 5 gal something like that so you can raise the fry in there. I have found that when i used a 10 gal. bucket the water went bad within 5 days. odd, i had a airator and a filter going, though that could have something to do with floridas water, its sapposed to go bad quick.

Lol, as for all my fry, i just get lucky, i add them to my 29 gal and the next thing i know i have fry. lol.

Try a petsmart. they usually have them in stock, if you dont have one ask your lfs, if they dont i think big alls has them.

Hey, today when I was passing by my guppy breeding container thing, and I looked into the plants, guess what I found.........MORE FRY! I found like 5. So I tried moving the plants around so that I could remove them without frightening them and fleeing to the mouths of their hungry mother. The two females that I have isolated are still HUGE so I am expecting more. How long does it take for them to give birth to all of their fry? How do I know when they are finish giving birth so that I could move the mothers far away from their fry? How should I remove the fry without making them swim away out in the open?

Hey, everyone! I have great news, one of my female feeder guppies just gave birth. I was only able to save about 4 or 5 fry and the others were running from the net and into their hunger mothers mouth! I was hoping that I would at least get like thirty fry from one female, but, I guess that is not possible, but I am more than happy that I got more fry.
