Geoff and I closed up the shelter's craft fair booth this year - boy wasn't that fun. Geoff was excited cause he got to draw the winning tickets on the items that were donated by the other vendors. And I gotta say the other vendors were very generous this year - a lot of nice items to raffle off. One of the vendors even gave Geoff a neckwarmer thing you put into the microwave.

Anyway we took Magee, the volunteer shelter kitty, back to the shelter along with a lot of other stuff. Magee stays in the community room with other kitties who get along and Chip was in there!!

Since the shelter was closed and no one was around I tucked the little meezer lynx mix into my bag before leaving . Geoff was sitting on one of the community room sofas and Magee, the volunteer, and Chip were sprawled on his lap. We had fun visiting the many community room kitties after hours.

One gorgeous little kitten wouldn't let us get near, and the lynxie mix was also nonpeople and she looks so young.

I'm not sure I told you about Chip - so guess I shouldn't leave you in the dark.

This cat, Chip, was picked up as a stray and soon the shelter staff noticed he couldn't/wouldn't sit up. He preferred laying on his back or side. So they got his backside x-rayed and it was discovered that at some point he must have been hit by a car and left untreated. Bone fragments had gone throughout his hip (did I tell you about this?). And he was in a fair amount of pain.

My vet :y_the_best: (Dr. T who has pulled Sadie out of a couple of possible life threatening issues) operated on Chip. She removed the bone fragments and also removed the head of his femur (is that right? the round ball joint which sits in the hip socket). The shelter was looking for donations to pay for Chip's surgery. The vet donated her time but there were still expenses. Sadie has to eat prescription food so when I go to the vet to buy food I try to give $5 over the cost and I had a good little credit going (which scares me since in the past when I even have a 50 cent credit usually one of the furkids gets sick). So I let my credit go to Chip.

I was hoping to meet Chip at the vets but the shelter picked him up just before I got there....so I was absolutely thrilled to be able to meet him today. He looks really good and even though one half of his backside is shaved he barely has a limp. Makes me feel really good about giving up the little credit I had going :D
