i have a question on hermit crabs.

    okey i purchased an hermit crab today nd it won't get out of its shell it only stiks its hands out nd dats it it doesn move around nd when i pick it up it goes back to its shell what should i do is it scared or what? and are hermit crabs nocturnal?

    hermits do not come out of there shell unless they are swithcing shells next time research a pet befor eu buy it and btw hows the RES doing?

    I think he means that the hermit crab won't come out and crawl around, am I right? And yes, hermit crabs are nocturnal, and they can be VERY shy. I had them for years, some die very quickly, and others live for years and years, even if they are all taken care of the same way. Sometimes they bury themselves for days and you don't ever see them, and then suddenly the hermit crab is back out. Be sure to provide lots of water for him, but make sure that it isn't deep enough for him to drown. Have fun!
