I have what I thought are to chocolate plied soceity finches, my question is this, can a female sing?, I know they cannot be visually sexed, but the one I know for sure is male is trying to mate with the other one and the other one lets him, but they both sing, so I,m just alittle confused at this point, the other one even lifts his tail for the other male, so if you can answer this question I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

Usually the male is the only one that sings but there are exceptions to this.
The only way you will know if you have a male and female is by either DNA sexing which can be expensive or by placing a nest in the cage and see if you get fertile eggs if so then you have a male and female.

Same sex pairs will still mate with each other and 2 females will still produce eggs even though they are not fertile.

So your best bet is to give them a nest if you planning on breeding and see what happens.
If you do plan on breeding make sure they are fed a good quality seed aswell as fresh fruit and vegtables and have ground cuttlefish bone and mineral block in the cage.

    they have a nest

Hi, they have a nest and have built it up to their way liking and I have had zebras before and have bred them, this is just different, cocoa has been after spice all day so that is why I wondered and also spice will make the female noise besides singing and cocoa has not, he only sings, so I guess time will tell,
