Hey All!! I am so sorry I haven't been around in such a long long time! Patrick and I have finally moved out of Jon's! We have never been so happy! We're not quite out on our own yet, we're living with out cat-lover friends Nicole & Sam. They have a BEAUTIFUL black kitty with one white spot, (our home computer is broken so i can't post pics), his name is Jet. All five of my kitties got to come along too! (I think they miss their Mommy who we couldn't take, I can't afford her vet bills, she has too many things that she needs done, but I think she forgives me for taking care of her babies  )

Well I'll post more on this later! Keep watching this post if you're interested!!

Sorry it took me so long to make another post! Ever since we moved and don't have the internet it's stupidly difficult to get to a computer! But I'm going to be coming back and to the library a couple times a week to post to everyone!

Anyway! Jetty is doing great, he loves the kittens but my little furbabies don't seem to like him all that well... i'm not sure why. Donut freaked out, arched her back, hissed and swatted at him... soooo I am leaving the kittens in the bedroom. It's big enough for them all to play in and they have plenty of toys so they don't get bored... they really don't seem to mind. So that's good! I've been giving them KMR milk replacer since they're not with their mommy, they're 11 wks now, is it really nessecary? I've been giving them less and less so ask to ween them off of the milk. They really like Iams Kitten Formula wet food. I give them some wet food every few days. If I were a kitty I'd sure get tired of eating the same stuff every day! Wouldn't you?

In other food news... I've read a lot of good things about Purina One Kitten food. Has anybody tried it? I'm thinking of buying some and trying ther 30 day money back guarantee thing. What does everyone think? Also, has anyone ever noticed how many different kinds of foods Purina makes? They make: All the Purina "chows"(which include: Kitten Chow, Cat Chow, Indoor Cat Chow, Outdoor Cat Chow, Indoor/Outdoor Cat Chow, Senior Cat Chow). Purina One (which makes foods for kittens, urinary tract, immune system, seniors etc), Alpo, Friskies (which makes Chef's Blend, Dental Diet, Senior Friskies). What's the deal! It's like a cat food monopoly! And not only that but they make plenty of Dog food too! Has anyone else been baffled by this?

    ahhhh!!!

I'm feeding my two new Main Coon kittens Pruina Kitten Formula. They love it and are doing great. I split a small can of wet food every evening and they love it too.

Bunny, so good to hear from you! You are doing great with the kittens. Sams I heard about your new kittens. Congrats! I once fostered 3, 5 week old kittens( incidentally 2 of the 3 look like Maine Coons) for 2 weeks and the vet and foster group recommended Iams and Purina kitten dry food and Trimph wet foods. They were only on KMR for 1/2 week at 5 weeks. They said they don't need KMR unless they are not gaining weight. Your kitties look very healthy! I was told it's ok to wean them off by 7 weeks if they still insist on drinking the KMR. I discovered that they loved all types of wet foods and I experimented on lots of brands. LOL's. I think most kittens will eat anything and it's up to us to feed them right. I crushed the Purina kitten dry with a mortar and pestle. I was paranoid that they would choke. Does anyone else break up the kitten dry foods?

I've never had to break up dry food or heard of anyone who does before. I feed my kitty Wellness and that comes in tiny little balls anyway. I do vaguely remember reading something somewhere about it being bad to soak the dry food in water to soften it tho. Something about that causing bacterial growth or something if left soaking more than a couple minutes. Not sure, maybe someone else could verify that.
I have fed my kitty Purina One for Sensitive Stomachs in the past and she seemed to enjoy it. That particular one seemed to have the best ingredients of the others. I try to always stay away from any mystery meats which can be found in some of their foods. Of everything she's had tho, my favorites are the Wellness which she has now and Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul.

I don't like soaking the kitten food. The babies gets the food all over their fur and it's very difficult to wash off. I don't even like leaving can foods out for more than 5 min. because I'm paranoid about bacterial growth. Don't know how long it takes for the bacteria to multiply but it sounds yucky.

Welcome back girl! I can't say much about diet but...

That sounds like typical terriitoral behavior. Sounds like Jetty is comfie in his/her role and the kittens are vieing for the next alpha spot. It's perfectly normal kitty behavior and the only thing you can do is let them work it out themselves. The longer you keep them seperated, the longer it'll drag out. They'll hiss and spit, but don't expect much more than that other than perhaps a few slaps. It's perfectly normal and doubtful that they will do actual harm to each other. They will work it out within a couple of weeks. Then the behavior will calm down as they all fall into their social status.
