I have a very unhappy boy...

Quick background: we're playing host to a stray mama cat who gave birth to a litter of four (two boys, two girls). The kittens are almost three months old.

The Problem: one of the little ones is very unhappy. He is anxious and can't seem to settle down. He cries and searchs for the quietest, dark corner he can find.

He is also very itchy, especially his tail.

I'd say it was fleas, but I can't find any on him and his siblings don't seem bothered.

Other factors to consider--he has the longest hair of the felines.

It has been more routy around here than usual with recent sport events on TV.

This is the first time he's had this problem.

Does anyone have an idea what could be bothering with my boy and whether he needs a vet visit?

:m23: and welcome. Sounds like a vet visit is in order. How's your kitten doing now?

He's all right now. Yesterday he seemed a little icthy in the morning, but other than that he hasn't shown any signs of what was bothering him.

    I'm confused.

The only thing that I can think it can be right now is that he just reacted to all the yelling and screaming everyone was doing watching the game, plus all the little kids running around. He didn't have any place to go to hide. I'm going to have to watch out for that.

The other thing is maybe he's developing a food allergy. He did have a little chicken that day too.

I suppose I'll have to wait and ask a vet when we bring him in.

I'm glad you kitty has improved. I know when anyone comes over my kitties usually go and hide if there is a lot of ruckus or if there are kids here.

When Copper is irritated or upset he will lick his tail area. I found that out the hard way when I tried to inspect that area once and didn't heed the warning growls.

You're right, he was probably scared.
