I was wondering if anyone has ever made their own scratching posts for their cats....if so, how did you make it? Also my fiance and i would like a way to hide the litter box. we saw a picture in a cat magizine of a pot with a hole to get in and a fake plant on top. we thought this was really neat! does anyone have ideas for different, good looking litter boxes...that doesn't look like a litter box  Thanks!

We made our own scratching post once. It was really basic - just a 18 to 24" 2x4 and sturdy piece of wood for the base. We covered both with carpet (stapled on) and then screwed the 2x4 to the base. it was pretty easy and really basic, but it does the trick. You can also wrap sisal rope around parts of it - a lot of cats prefer to sharpen their claws on that to carpet.

Kyles (a member here) made a really extravagant scratching post/play area. Hopefully she'll pipe in.

The litter box idea sounds good, but I have no suggestions for you, sorry!
