I need some food advice

Moe is being ultra fussy suddenly when it comes to breakfast. I have been feeding her canned Wellness, which she is usually happy with. I have been feeding Artemis the packets of Nutro kitten food. Well, Moe got a taste of Artemis' food and will now not touch her Wellness.

My question is - is it okay to feed Moe the kitten food and forgo the Wellness until Artemis is ready for adult food? Is kitten food too high in fat for her? Or is the amount of protein the only difference between kitten and adult food?

I only feed Moe a small amount of wet food a day. It just feels like such a waste to have to throw out the Wellness when she doesn't touch it. It's not like it's cheap food!

The vet said I can switch Artemis over to adult food after about 6 months of age. So that would only be about 3 months of Moe eating kitten food.

    Advice?

Hi Halaroo. Is there a medical reason why Artemus cannot eat Wellness right now? It would seem a lot easier to feed them both the same food. Wellness is for "all life stages." Meaning it is for kittens, adults and seniors. Once Moe realizes that all she is getting is her Wellness, believe me she won't starve herself. :D She's just being a fussy little princess right now. I suppose she can get away with it, being as she's so darn cute!

Thanks for the advice, Chessmind. I didn't realize that Wellness was "for all stages of life". I just went to their website and compared the nutritional analysis of their canned to the Nutro kitten food. They are basically the same in the protein-fat-fibre content. I think I will use up the Nutro (possibly even let them share it) and then switch Artemis over to Wellness for good.

Moe is a princess, and she can do no wrong in my eyes! I just want to keep her happy!

Rene was 5 months old when we got her. We forgo the kitten food and she did fine on Wellness, Solid Gold, or whatever we fed the others. Monty and Pumpkin were gaining too much weight from kitten chow. Rene turned out fine, and mostly healthy. I'm sure Moe could stand to gain a little weight for a short time. She's such a cute, and petite gal. :m10:

Thanks for the advice guys! I gave Moe some kitten food this morning and she was ecstatic! Gobbled it all up. I will use up the Nutro and then switch them both to Wellness.
