Well no one has called, the lady doesn't want to deal with us any more, and all are efforts are failing to find who he belongs to!

    I'm sooo excited.

One thing though. Last night we ate dinner in the living room and I was brushing Red after I had finished. Well he wsa kind of chewing on my arm. YOu know how they do on their own bodies, kinda like they are scratching an itch with their teeth?? Well he accidentally niped my arm and it hurt! I yelped and told him no. WEll that kind of set him off. He was jumping around and acting like a goof!!! So he calmed down and layed net to me and was getting mouthy with my arm again. I told him no, and he put my fore arm in his mouth and proceeded to Tug on me.
Like a puppy. I wonder why he's doing this. He hasn't played or anything sice we found him. And last night he was acting like a 2 month old pup. Romping around, chewing on his bullystick and throwing it about... he was acting plum crazy!!!

He finally settled downa nd was acting normal again. Weird......

Woohoo! Congrats on your new dog!

You should know, Sams, how dogs can be on their best behavior in a new place. Over the next weeks, you will probably see all sorts of mischief come out of this dog as he settles in and feels free to misbehave. :)

yeah. I was thinking the same thing. There may be a problem he just hasn't shown us yet, and thats what lead someone to dump him....

hehe, he just loves you so much, he didn't want you to miss his puppyhood!! hehe atta boy.

Seriously though, he is probably just getting comfy in his new home and his true colors are coming out in full force. My friend has a greyhound she rescued from racing. When she wants you to do something or go somewhere she will put your hand or forearm in her mouth and pull you to where she wants to go (which is usually the front door to the park ;)).
Its never hard but I found it weird the first time she did it to me.

It's hard to believe, but some people dump dogs just because they're over active. Example, jumps on the kids, plays too rough, too much energy. Maybe that's why he's shown some signs of obedience training. Maybe the people just decided not to vest any more time into him. I have a feeling he's a really neat and playful dog. I think it's great you found each other.

YEAH for Red and for you! I think you're all going to be fine, you know how to deal with dogs. A lot of people do dump them for any little problem. I'm pretty sure that might be the reason someone dumped Rusty, if he was dumped. He did have a chewing problem when we got him, as well as mouthing. Some people just get mad, and decide the dog is no good and get rid of it, rather than learning about how to train them. We really had to do a lot of work with Rusty, redirecting his chewing and mouthing to okay things to chew on. It was really all he needed! I think before, he just got yelled at or kicked, and never really understood. He learns really fast once he knows what is okay, and what makes us unhappy. He really does want to be good and please us!
I'll bet Red is starting to feel loved and comfortable with you, and it's making him feel happy and content, so he's acting "like a kid again"! :y_the_best:

Imagine if people did that with other people for the same reason. :? I think he was in a new locale with new people. Has probably has been so scared and confused and now he feels welcome and cared for and is like WOW! I'm home! Time to be myself! Plus, you can handle just about anything an animal can throw, so maybe he just needed a "dog person". Other owners may have dumped because they were first time dog owners and have no idea how train and assumed the dog came manner ready. (I hate that!) I am so happy for you sams and your dream dog! Is Red the new name by the way?

Well, people don't dump their kids (usually) but they are very quick to stuff medicine into them. The kid's overactive - cram Ritalin into him and he'll be fine! It's so sad. No one wants to work at anything to fix it.

I can't even imagine dumping Rusty, no matter what he was doing. He's such a cute little guy!!

NO joke!!!! I like litte rusty too!! Yes Red is his new name.
I'm hoping he perks up more like he did last night. WE'll just have to work on the nibbling on mommies ears and arms. HE has this fetish for ears. HE will go straight for your head and lick those ears...not all that good of a feeling when a big goop of slobber dribbles in your ear!!!!! Ewwwww...

I was running through the house looking for Q-tips last night..YUCK!!
Oh and he barked for the first time last night! He sounds like a chiuahua!!!!! Its sooo funny. Their yips are very annoying but definatly a BIG trait of the breed!
WE've been using a harness on him. Its apparent he's never had one on, but with in 5 minutes. He was leading and acting like he's worn it his whole life!

Granvel even managed to teach him a ver "naughty" trick.

Nala likes ears, too, but I usually direct her there because it's further away from my mouth. :) She does like to nibble ears and noses which can be quite startling. She mostly only does it to me, though, and not strangers. She just kisses strangers to death and makes me look like an idiot after telling them what a challenging dog she is.

Sounds like he's very smart, and will learn fast. I swear, all it takes is a lot of love, and pretty much any dog will want to please it's master! Especially the ones that came from neglect and abuse-- they tend to be the ones that really appreciate finding a safe, loving home, once they figure out you love them and they can trust you. I really feel for the dogs I hear people talk about who find that the dog they adopt came from such abuse that they never arer able to trust humans again... that is so horrible. But it sounds like Red won the lottery this time!

I do think Red was sent to you because Rattigan and Ralph were being taken away.

I don't know. He knew I was sad this morning. He gave me a kiss and wrapped his leg around my arm, and looked at me like " Mom, it'll be ok." Then he left with Daddy.....
