me - have I mentioned we get bears?

so I'm in the puter room doing an exercise tape when I could hear Sadie outside barking away. I glance outside and could see my one remaining birdfeeder swinging wildly about...so I go outside to get Sadie assuming there was a bear outside.

I get Sadie and I could hear something growling/hissing at me from the birdfeeder arena (you getting my drift here?). Sounded like a cat in trouble...yes'siree bub - sounded just like a cat in trouble. So I'm thinking (something I shouldn't do - obviously) Sadie scared a cat after a mouse near the feeder and I have to assist (idiot child that I am).

So I get Sadie inside, grab my jacket and a flashlight and head over to the birdfeeding arena - then the growling intensified and a big black thing stood up...in front of me.

ain't no cat that big in these hea woods....well the bear is still out there, I've changed my short, and my knees are still at the consistency of Jello.

 OMG Mary, I'd never go outside again!

Well you had good intentions by going to the rescue, guess the bear just didn't see it that way. Glad you're ok!

Yikes Mary, are you ok now? Yesterday I spotted a big deer in my neighborhood. That's the extent of the "wild" life we have here.

Well thank God you're alright! Thats a close one. My grandparents live in Wyoming up in the mountains and thats happened to them a couple times with bears coming in the yard. They've even had large moose come up to the door. Awesome, but kinda scary. At least you have an exciting story to tell everyone :)

Wow I am glad you are ok! That reminds of a rafting trip story, where 2 guests heard a bear rumaging through the bushes so quietly the got the guide and other guests and as they were peeking through the trees, the 2 people (not a bear) realized and got a little embarassed.

Reading your story freaked me out. I'm glad you are okay. Thanks goodness we don't have bears around here. I'd be afraid to go outside. We have a lot of deer but they are not scary. They are used to people, too. If they are in my yard and I get out of the car, they just stand there and look at me, although if I go toward them, they do run off.
