I got Isabelle Friday evening. I have only seen her eat one peice of dry food. She is sick, so she may not want to eat. But this morning i took some food from her dish and put it in front of her on the floor. she ate it, so i put some more, and she ate it. Why would she eat it off the floor but not in her bowl?

Also I am suppose to give her medicene, twice a day. Its pink liquid stuff. I have to go in on the side of her mouth by the cheek. I swear more ends up on me, then in her throat. Any suggestions? I'm worried she wont be getting the medicene she needs. Thanks

sounds like amoxi on the meds...you could just squirt it right into her mouth. Most cats lose some but she'll probably get enough.

She might not be eating cause cats with URIs usually have stuffy noses and can't smell. If a cat can't smell their food they don't usually eat very well. If her nose is stuffy you could steam up your bathroom and put her in there for awhile (no longer than 20 minutes) see if she'll eat better after

Putting her in the bathroom while you shower ought to work just fine.

As for her not eating from the bowl, but eating from the floor; maybe she doesn't like the bowl? If it's a plastic bowl, it may have a smell or taste she doesn't care for. If it's a metal bowl, maybe she got a shock (static electricity) from it? If it's a ceramic or glass bowl, well, I'm out of maybes. But you could try a different bowl and see how she does, in any case.

You could try her food on a saucer or small plate most cats will eat with no problems of these.
Also i agree with Mary_NH a steamy bathroom with help unblock her nose if its stuffy so yeah having her in the bathroom while your taking a shower would be fine.

Another suggestion have you ever given her meds in her bowl as this can also put them off if they know there could be medication in there food bowl very wise are animals hehehehe..

What my mum does with her cats when she worms them as she uses liquid wormer as it works quicker is she will hold the cat wrapped in a blanket or towel and place the syringe in the side of there mouths but not making them open it the tip of the syringe sits next to there teeth and it passes through that way.
