My wife and I have just adopted a new puppy. We have been told by one Vet that she is 8 weeks old and by another Vet that she is 12 weeks old. How can you tell by the teeth how old the puppy is. I know that you can I just dont know what I'm look ing for.

    THank you for your input.

    Jeff

PS we also are tying to figure out what type of dog she is so input would help. The links are below.

What breed, howmuch does she weigh? Puppy teeth are generally long and thin, they will begin to become thicker and fall out by the age of 3-5 months in large breeds...

Looks like an aussie, although hard to tell at that age. Determining age from the teeth isn't an exact thing. Baby teeth usually fall out from 4-7 months old, so some vets will say when the first tooth comes out the pup is 4 months old (16 weeks). I would just take the average for now and call her 10 weeks old. :)

Thank you very much for the compliments on our new adddtion. I would say that her longest tooth is about half an inch long if I were to guess and she also have most of them as well. She likes to chew alot and plays tug o war with our 1 year old dog. THey get along really well and he is an aussie as well. I have been told that she looks like either a Catahoula or a pit bull mix. Thank you all for your comments.

I don't see pit bull at all. Could be some catahoula. People say that because of the coat markings.

I think she is a cutey she is sooo pretty.
I was thinking some sort of pit bull mix bc of the brindle-ish colors. But it is an awesome looking dog.

Hi just thought i would add something.

Brindle is not just associated with the pit breeds you can also get Brindle Collie's, Lurchers, Whippets and many other breeds.

Just thought i would add lol

I agree that brindle is not a pit bull breed specific color, but this puppy is not brindle, he he merle, which is not a recognized color for pits. He's very cute though!

Once again, thank you for your comments. I really appreciate all the input. I guess I will have to see when she gets around the 6 month area. I hope that everyone has a great day.
