Just a little moan ...

I had to get a stool sample from my cat which wasn't easy - it took me 3 days to get one. Once I had one I took it straight to my vets. I called a couple of days later for the results and there were none - the sample had been lost! I couldn't believe it, how incompetent is that? I'd even labelled it with permanent marker myself before taking it in.

I did make my feelings clear on the matter, although the person I spoke to wasn't responsible so it wasn't fair to take it out on her personally. It's taken me almost a week to get another sample, which I took in today so fingers crossed this one will get tested.

    I was so CROSS!

Cant say I blame you, Id be pretty annoyed too, can yuo wait for the results next time, usually to run a fecal test only takes about 15 minutes. Unles for some reason they need to send a sample out to a laboratory.

At my veterinary surgery it apparently takes 2 days to get the results. I can wait, but I was annoyed cos I should have the results and either have a solution or be able to move on a step. I'm just not good at all this hanging around stuff - I want to know what the problem is and I know that's not always easy!

    I understand your frustration.

When I have to take a stool sample, I just scoop some out of the litter. That seems to work fine.

    Good luck with you kitty.

my vet (tech actually) will do a fecal check while I wait...unless they have an emergency going on

    Hi,

I wish my vet surgery did that. However, I managed to get another sample, and got the results today. All negative :D

Cassie is eating well, seems good in herself. Some of her stools are still an odd colour, but it's made me feel better that she's had it tested - her kidneys and liver are both fine too.

I know, isn't it great? She's still eating fish and chicken but at least her appetite is fab and she's not vomited for almost a month - YAY!!

She sits here on my lap as I type, so I've just given her a nice little stroke from you! Thanks!

    Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

to get a sample from my cats we have to clean the box then watch it like a hawk to make sure we get one from the right cat. even then we're not 100% sure. i'd be so mad if the vet lost it and i had to get another!
