Hi all. Took my diabetic kitty to the vet for his usual 12 hour curve. The Vet did a complete blood work up and a urine analysis on him (results will be back Friday) and she took an X ray of his belly. She said she sees "crystalization" = kidney stones. (a few stones) and that his liver is a little enlarged. He is only 2 years old!! Anybody know what causes the kidney stones, and is it treatable?? Will he be OK???? :( Please write me back. Thanks for listening!! She did suggest taking him for a Sonogram....and to see an internist along with the Sonogram....

I'm going on the assumption here that stones in a cat are going to be like stones in a dog - diet change. Did your vet suggest prescription diet CD food? That works really well for stones.

My dog had stones...many along with some lodged in her urethea - hers had to be surgically removed and she had to start eating the canine CD food - been nearly 2years and no stones

another thing you'll want to consider is your water. Where we live the water is very hard and even with a softener it's nasty stuff. Sadie dog prefers our tap water :x to bottled water but I only give her bottled water now. Vet thinks it's possible that our water may have been a part of the culprit for Sadie's stones.

But I'd ask about a diet change

Hmm--Good thinking about the Tap water! :y_the_best: Being my kitty is Diabetic, he loves water--so he likes to jump on the bathroom sink & drink that water--out of the faucet. I will ask the vet about that today. I have to pick up his antibiotic. The vet called & said his CBC White Blood cell count is high & She wants him on an Anti biotic. Hope it is nothing, and whatever it is--will be cured. My poor little fella. :(
