Kitten has cold or allergy?

My boyfriend and I just got a 6 week old kitten from a vet office almost two weeks ago, and over the last two days, I noticed the kitten was sneezing and sniffling a lot, with clear dicharge coming out of her eyes. Today I noticed she wasn't sneezing a lot, but her nose sounds stopped up and the discharge is still coming from her eyes. Her appetite is that of a normal, healthy kitten, but does she have a respiratory infection or an allergy? Should I take her to the vet or is there some home remedies I can treat her with? We just recently dealt with our last kitten having FIP, which sadly she passed away, so we're running low on cash for treating the new kitten. What should I do?

First of all, I'm assuming you ment 6 week old. Secondly, If you got him/her from your vet, it's momma is either dead or out of the picture because 6 weeks is WAAAAY too young to be away from momma. Sounds like she has a resperatory infection. Since you get her/him from the vet, take her right back there and he should treat her for little to no money. But do it quickly. she/he is too young and is in danger.

how long did you wait between losing the kitten with FIP and getting a new kitten?

Your new kitten probably needs antibiotics. And i would sanitize my house after having a kitten with FIP. A 6 week old kitten is going to have a very low immune system, especially if it has an upper respiratory infection.

As Cassie said get to the vet quickly. Maybe you can simply call and tell the vet the symptons and they'll prescribe Clavamox and that doesn't cost much. A checkup would be better. But I have to say if you weren't financially prepared to take on another pet at this time you probably should have waited until you were...vet care is vital for a kitten, especially one so young.

Well our kitty Cyren (my boyfriend's idea) has an upper respiratory infection which is common among kittens. They gave her Clavamox to take twice a day and some small pills (Chlorpheniramine Maleate) for three times a day. The vet said to isolate her from the other cat, of course. Everything was free, which was very fortunate. Thankyou Cassie and Mary_NH for your advice on the situation! ^_^
