:( So about 4 months ago my cat had 2 kittens. My friend at the time said that she would take one of them and then about 2 weeks later said she wanted the other one. So I gave the other one to her. Well about a month ago she gives me one of the cats back because she sayd she can't really handle both of them so I'm like ok. Well then I asked her if I could have the other one back too so that they could continue to live together and she told me this big long drawn out story about why she wants to keep him. Well then a week ago she text messages me (we don't talk anymore *long story*) and asks me if I can take the other one back, its not really a big deal I'm just a little frustrated because she made such a big deal about keeping him. So anyways I get the cat back and she leaves I'm with the kitten for about 5 mins. and I'm looking under his mouth and it looks like he has mange. So I call her up and she sits here and says she has no idea what I'm talking about but its really bad. I'm really not sure what to do I'm going to try and get him in the vet tomorrow because I'm not for sure whether its mange or not and if it is I have no idea how long hes had it because it looks really bad. What should I do?

mange or ringworm? In which case (either one actually) it's a good thing you took the kittens back cause if they got either in that environment it's no place for a kitten(s). Glad you're getting them vet treatment. Let us know what happens

So I'm very frustrated. I took the kitten to the vet today and they did a skin scrap and their still not sure whether the kitten has mange or not. He said it could be kitty acne but isn't real sure so basically he wants me to clean it with this shampoo he gave me once a day and give him an oral treatment 2 times a day and then go back in a week. I just really want to know whats wrong with him so that he can get better.

I understand mange can be tough to detect. I have a friend whose dog got scarpotic mange and it took some time for the vet to get it right (she did switch vets)...maybe a 2nd opinion will be order to help your kitten

Yeah I've heard the same thing but I don't really understand it. Its just really frustrating because he said that it could still be mange and if thats the case I spent all the money at the vet for basically nothing because if it is mange then we will have to go a totally different route. So I may try that. :x

    No Luck!!

So I took my kitty back to the vet yesterday for a check up. For the past week we have been giving him an oral treatment 2 times a day and cleaning the infected area out once a day. Well when we went there the vet said he thinks that hes getting better but I'm not so sure. I really want to know something for a fact. He told me to bring him back in again in 2 weeks. I really don't mind doing it but I want to know something for sure because we're still not sure exactly what it is. :m9: My poor baby!!

All that stuff can be so hard to figure out, as I found out from all the research I did for Mia and her babies' ringworm. Is there a dermatologist around you anywhere? Sometimes the cultures take ages to get back.
Revolution works on Sarcoptic Mange - it might be worth a shot. I hope you learn soon what it is..skin problems can be mighty irritating for the poor little things.
