I have been having a problem with newborn kittens dying. Parents are clean bill of health according to my vet. I have had other litters before, this has never happened. The only thing I have notice that these kittens do that others have not is they seem to arch their backs and throw their heads back a lot. They only lived 2 to 3 days, and were from 2 seperate litters. Has anyone one heard of this or seem this before.

my pets are all spayed and in my 40+ years I've never let my animals have a litter.
If your cats are producing unhealthy kittens why are you letting them continue to reproduce?
Please spay/neuter your cats...with shelters all over being filled to the brim with unwanted litters of kittens why add more?
I have no idea what could be wrong with the kittens but it's sad...has the vet seen the kittens?

ohhh my gosh.. I agree w/ Mary_NH please get them fixed!!! My neighboors cat has litter after litter of babies and its sooo sad to see that poor mom cat go though that and then not to mention most of her kittens die so thats even worse.. My sis in law is an animal control officer and when i go to the shelter and see all the poor animals that r there b/c they r unwanted it just breaks my heart.. so please consider getting ur cats fixed!!!

Hi, and welcome to the cat forum :)
I agree with the others, unless you are breeding pure breds on a professional level you should spay and neuter your cats. It would be best for both you and them.

There something called fading kitten symdrome- also sometimes genetically two cats are incompatible and will not produce litters that survive. It looks like you might have one or both.. Solution? Spay your female.
