There is an article in this month's Whole Dog Journal about a new product called KongTime that dispenses a Kong at various intervals throughout the day. It is meant for a home-alone dog, and the article tells the story of how it stopped one dog from being destructive.

I like the part where they say there is a tone that precedes the release of a Kong, which was a feature suggested by behaviorists because they were afraid the dog would sit in front of the thing all day long waiting for it to dispense a Kong. So instead, it sounds a tone so the dog feels free to roam about but comes running when the tone sounds. My thought was, my dogs would get into less trouble if they were lying in front of the thing all day, waiting for a Kong, LOL.

Well, they mentioned giving some to a kennel to try out. The kennel guy purposely gave it to the dogs he thought were most likely to be able to destroy it - even young Labs! None were successful. It's quite pricey, but if it actually helps it would be worth it.

You shouldn't use it if you have more than one dog, though. They could fight over the Kongs, or one might end up hoarding all of them.
