Kyrre and the rabbit...

The good news is that Kyrre absolutely loves the new bunny. The bad news is he loves him in "now-that's-a-tasty-dinner" kinda way... The first time I inroduced them to eachother, I held the bunny and my bf held Kyrre. We were standing too far apart for Kyrre to rech the bunny, but if he streched long enough he could touch him with his nose. And guess what Kyrre did?? He sort of chewed on the bunnys fur! It didn't look like he was trying to kill him/eat him, but like he just wanted a little taste
and ever since Kyrre has been super eager to get into the bedroom where the bunny lives. If I let him in he'll lay on top of the cage with his eyes fixed on the bunny... Yesterday I had the bunny running loose in the bedroom while i had kyrre on my lap. I had to hold him back with all my strength. For the first time Kyrre wouldn't listen to me when I told him no. Mabye things will get better when the bunny grows bigger, Kyrre doesn't react like that to Basil, my other bunny.
It must be very frustrating for Kyrre, to have this prey/toy/meal right in front of his eyes but always out of reach

Btw, Knøtte couldn't care less about Kyrre... Sometimes he'll get curious, but he never seems to be afraid :)

Poor Kyrre! Hopefully he'll get used to Knotte in time. Good luck!

LOL. Once the bunny gets bigger, I don't think he will see him as a possible food source. I had cats and rabbits when I was a kid and they all made wonderful pals. :D Are you going to litter train your bunny?

I've been thinking about litter training him... Do you have any good advice? I've read several places on the web that rabbits learn faster as they get older. So I've been putting it of since I work so much

My Mitten's loves young bunnies....to eat them (yuck). She never catches adult bunnies, though. So, hopefully, when your's gets bigger, Kyrre will lose interest in bunny being food. Good luck. :)

Hi Bente. :D You can see if anyone has any good litter training advice in the small pets forum. Or you could see if there is any info/books on the Internet. It's strange that you read that older rabbits are easier to toilet train. :? You would think that the younger you litter train a bunny the better. :-# :0011:

My rabbit was litter trained. I just placed a small litter box in the corner of his cage and put some of his turds in it. He seemed to go in there consistantly after that. When I would let him out to run around I would put his little litter box on the floor and he would use it most of the time but would still ocassionally drop a turd or two while running around.

That's gotta be the dowside of rabbits, you can never tell when they're going to poo like you can with cats
Kyrre is still obsessed (sp?) and spends every minute next to the cage. I had to give in and keep the bedroom door open because Kyrre was making so much noise trying to get in

Good luck, I have never heard of cats and rabbits being friends, oh well, hopefully when the bunny gets bigger everything will be fine. Good luck, posts pics of the bunny in the "other pets" forum.
