He won't eat, and he is very tired and quiet all the time. He haven't used his litter box in almost two days, so I'm thinking it is a blockage of some sort.

I took him to the vet earlier today, and she suggested that it might be worms. She tried to feed him some of their wet food, and he loved it! She gave him his first shot and we got a worm cure (?), but now i can't get him to eat the pill... I've crushed it completly and mixed it in the food the vet gave him, but he only ate a little before he went back to his bed...
Poor guy, I think his stomach hurts  Any idea on how to get him to eat it? Do i have to force him??

The vet also gave me some cleaned petrol (don't know if it's the correct word, maybe paraffin?) to give him if the pill didn't work until tomorrow. I think i'll call her and ask if i can give it to him right away. She said that it would "speed up his system".

And btw, this was his first vet visit ever, and he did great! I was prepared for a fight to get him into the carrier, but i just opened it and the first thing he did was to go inside and lay down! :y_the_best:
He didn't like the car drive though, and inside the vets office he first tried to climb up on me and hide in my hair *aaaw*
But all in all he was a

do you feel comfortable enough to pill him? It's easy once you get comfortable with doing it. Also you might want to see if the worm meds come in liquid form if you can't pill - for fostering the rescue group has sent me tons of meds and luckily all liquid form and that included deworming meds

    I sorry Kyrre isn't feeling well :(

I have had to give lots of meds in pill form over the years and it's not a bad thing to learn how to do. A lot of times the pills don't taste good and even the best crushing and mixing won't help.

I'm sure everyone has their own tricks but this has always worked for me....I kneel on my knees with the cat inbetween so she can't back-up. I open her mouth with my left hand and pop the pill in with my right, dropping it as far back in her mouth as possible. Close her mouth and blow into her face which, my vet says, makes them swallow.

    Hope this helps!

It was almost too easy... I guess it helps that he is very weak. now we'll just have to wait and see untill tomorrow.

and the more you do it the more confidence you'll gain and soon pilling a cat will be nothing to you ..... good job. The pills do take a little while to work

I'm just so worried for Kyrre  Still no poop, and he hasn't eaten much either... Just a small tablespoon, and he drank two sips of water...
But he is much more vivid (?) now, then before he got the pill.

Is it a slow process?? :0011:

He also acts veery strange now. He woke me up several times during the night, and "told" me to follow him to the living room. There he jumped in his basket and started "nursing" the blanket. Intense! When I went back to bed, he followed me, but woke me up again in an hour or so, and took me back to the living room again... This continued throughout the night.

Am i just being paranoid when i'm worried it's because he is in pain, and doesn't want to be alone ? I've heard that cats purr when they are in pain... :?

perhaps try placing a warm hot water bottle wrapped up in a towl by his belly when he sleeps. it may help.

as well, keep an eye on his fluid intake. he may need to go back toth e vet for an IV i things get too bad :(:(

man i wish him all the best. and u too... good luck...

    Thanks EF :)

He is doing alot better now, eating and drinking a bit more. Tonight he jumped in our bedroom window after a trip outside, and he had poop stuck to his fur :0024: I know it's good news, but it was not much fun to clean it up...

    hi bente. =P~

i am so glad kyrre is feeling better today. what a scare. yes...you are right...they purr when they are stressed or not feeling well. max ate a string when he was about six mos old. he threw up twice and didnt eat for a day and a half. that was an expensive day at the vet...xrays, barium...

it freaked me out. i hate it when anything is wrong. it is so stressful...so i relate...

dont worry...it will be okay.
